On Sunday April 14, the MMBC women’s group held its inaugural Super V event at Arapuke. The stunning autumn day attracted 21 on-the-day registrations, twice what we were hoping for! We headed up to the shuttle bay as a group and Kahuts shuttles kindly transported us up to the top of the park. The course included About Time into Mr Twister, down a short section of road to the culvert, down R&V, finishing at the shuttle bay. Confident riders took themselves down a practice run while those new to the park or unsure about their abilities were guided down the tracks by our seasoned local ride leaders, Raewyn and Rachael. We all shuttled back up again and the second run was timed.
The results are:
First place: Amanda Hargreaves
Second place: Raewyn Knight
Third place: Janelle Rebeik
After the race, we split into a couple of groups to come back down to the carpark via Rhythm and Vines or Karearea to finish off with yummy baking and flash drinks. The main objective of this event was to get women out and riding our amazing trails and to introduce them to the Super V format to show how much fun it is! Check, check and check!!
