SUMMARY:Foxton Fizzler
DESCRIPTION:6 September 2026\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThursday 15 January Members-only Club Shuttles\n\n\n\nThe Foxton Fizzler returns on Sunday 6 September 2026 — and this year we’re bringing a special Father’s Day twist to one of MMBC’s favourite events. \n\n\n\nHeld at Foxton MTB Trails @ Target Reserve\, the Foxton Fizzler (previously known as the Santoft Sizzler) is a fun and social relay event raced on the forest’s unique sand-based trails. The pine forest creates a sheltered microclimate that stays warmer and drier than many other riding venues\, so the event goes ahead in almost any weather. \n\n\n\nFor 2026\, riders will be able to choose between two race formats: \n\n\n\n\nA traditional five-hour relay. Yes\, you solo riders can do it alone. \n\n\n\n\n\nA new three-hour relay option\n\n\n\n\nThe five-hour race will start first\, with the three-hour event beginning two hours later so that all riders finish together. \n\n\n\nWe’re also introducing a special Father’s Day division for dads and their kids — a great excuse to team up and spend the day riding together. \n\n\n\nAs always\, the Foxton Fizzler is all about fun. There will be plenty of spot prizes\, awesome trophies for class winners\, and costumes are strongly encouraged. There are even prizes for the best dressed. E-bikes are welcome too. \n\n\n\nEarlier this year\, the February storm caused extensive damage throughout Target Reserve and many of the trails. MMBC volunteers and trail builders have been working hard to restore the network\, and we’re excited to welcome riders back for another memorable day in the forest. \n\n\n\n\nThings you need to know.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOnline entries close at 5pm on 4 September. To help make the event run smoothly\, please enter online!\n\n\n\nYou may enter on the day – cash only!\n\n\n\nRace start\, finish\, and village is at Foxton MTB Trails @ Target Reserve.\n\n\n\nThe event will run whether it is wet or fine. The postponement will only occur for safety reasons. If the Event Director cancels or postpones the event\, social media will communicate this. \n\n\n\nEach lap of the course is approximately five kilometres and will take the average rider 15-20 minutes.\n\n\n\nThere are a few moderate climbing sections\, with only six to eight metres per climb.\n\n\n\nEach team is limited to one car in the event village. Additional parking is available outside the village.\n\n\n\nCars may only leave the village after the race has finished.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll repairs must be made by the rider.\n\n\n\nBike changes are not permitted.\n\n\n\nFirst aid will be on site.\n\n\n\nMarshalls will be on the course.\n\n\n\nNO generators or BBQ allowed – the event is in a forest!\n\n\n\nALL pets must be on leads throughout the event\, including registration and prize giving.\n\n\n\nPhotos will be taken at the event\, published on social media\, and used to publicise this and future events. The event is open to the public\, and organisers cannot control who publishes photos. Entry into the event implies acceptance of these conditions.\n\n\n\nA food truck will be on site. \n\n\n\nIf you have any questions\, please contact the Event Director at harry@mmbc.co.nz.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nENTRIES coming soon\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTiming\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n7:30 am – 9:15 am Registration\n\n\n\n9:15 am Vehicle entrance for 5-hour race event village closes. \n\n\n\n9:30 am – 5-hour Race Briefing\n\n\n\n9:45 am – 5-hour Race Start\n\n\n\n2:45 PM – Race and horn will sound; the course will be closed at the exit of the village.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n11.15 am 3-hour Race Registration ends \n\n\n\n11.15 am Vehicle entrance for 3-hour race event village closes \n\n\n\n11:30 am 3-hour Race Briefing\n\n\n\n11:45 am 3-hour Race Start\n\n\n\n2:45 pm Race end horn will sound; the course will be closed at the exit of the village.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEntry Fees\n\n\n\n\n\nOnline\n\n\n\n\nSolo Riders$30\n\n\n\nTeams of Two or More$30 per person\n\n\n\nFamilies & YouthTeamsThree to six people$70\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOn The Day (cash only)\n\n\n\n\nSolo Riders$40\n\n\n\nTeams of Two or More$40 per person\n\n\n\nFamily & Youth TeamsThree to six people$80\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nENTRIES coming soon\n\n\n\n\nEvent Rules\n\n\n\n\nAs always\, there must be a few rules to make the event run smoothly and safely!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe 5-hour race will start at 9:45am; the 3-hour race will start at 11.45am. All riders on track at 2:45pm will complete the lap they are on\, which will be counted. \n\n\n\nThe race length is five or three hours plus one lap.\n\n\n\nElectronic timing will be used\, and tags will be fixed to number plates with Velcro. It is the team’s responsibility to make sure the tag is firmly attached and does not come off during a lap. Please return tags and number plates at the end of the race.\n\n\n\n\nPassing etiquette\n\n\n\n\nPlease use common sense and courtesy when passing and being passed.\n\n\n\nAll riders share the same track\, so there will be a wide range of speeds and skills.
